Gregg Berryman’s Notes on Graphic Design and Visual Communication is high on theory but low on actual application. A revamp was needed to make the book’s design as interesting as the information in it.
A design with a strong sense of grid and the primary printing colors, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK), were used to make the look of the book convey basic design principles. Thus the 1930s German industrial font DIN is prominently used.
